This is a beautifully presented video game when it comes to the physical casing. Within the sleeve is a booklet that opens up showing 3 discs and the game manual. The case is presented with a minimalist styling which adds to Max Payne 2's "film noir love story" theme. The booklet is printed in full colour and contains everything you would expect from a a game published by Rockstar.
The game itself is a third person shooter driven heavily by its story. Basically, Max is going through all sorts of trouble and the story is played out through comic strips and in game narration by Max himself as you gun down enemies. The gameplay makes use of "Shootdodging", that's the ability to slow down time and shoot people Matrix style. A very popular mechanic at the time and one that was very cool when still new. Today this ability within games is common, however it still serves itself to be very useful in difficult situations. Talking about difficulty, this game adjusts AI and the amount of health kits based on how the player is coping, a very cool and often unnoticed form of adaptive difficulty.
If you have no interest in the story or gameplay then this probably isn't for you. However if you enjoy games that have a strong narrative and are simple to pick up then I would recommend checking this out.
